PROJECT 1320 has been established to chronicle and preserve the achievements of the pioneers of drag racing and the performance automotive aftermarket.

Through the parent organization, the Quarter Mile Foundation, the goal of PROJECT 1320 is to capture -- in first-person narratives coupled with still images and movies of the period -- the “Who, What, When, Where, Why” of the sport’s heroes and legends.

The focus is to produce 25, one-hour high quality digital documentaries for cable television centering on the individuals, manufacturers, sanctioning bodies, automakers and the behind the scenes people…what it took to bring this great sport to a major motorsport in North America. The individuals and manufacturers who will be a part of this series will include some of today’s stars but it will also include many of the “lesser-knowns” whose contributions helped launch the sport, then nurtured it through its early growth and finally to see it become a major motorsport.

The intent is to explore the birth and evolution of Drag Racing… centering on those people that did it for the love of the sport and ultimately through their passion, resolve and ingenuity, created an industry of intense entrepreneurs and rabid enthusiasts.

The model for the series is based upon the work of the well-known documentary film maker Ken Burns (“Jazz”, “Baseball”, “The National Parks” and other highly regarded films on the Public Broadcast System – PBS).
